In celebration of the Acadia National Park Centennial, the Rockefeller family has agreed this year to provide visitors access to areas around the site of The Eyrie as well as carriage roads and trails on the property. The Eyrie was the summer home of John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his wife, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller before it was demolished in the early ’60s. The original brick terrace and surrounding stone wall remain. You will receive a map of these areas with your confirmation. Please print it out and bring it with you. To provide time to explore these areas, each session has been extended by 30 minutes.
New session times for 2016!
Morning session: 9am – 11:30am
Afternoon session: 12:30 pm – 3:00pm
The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden in Seal Harbor, Maine is a private garden that is generally open one day a week in late July, August, and early September to allow garden enthusiasts a chance to enjoy its beauty. The number of visitors on open garden days is limited to protect the quality of each visitor’s experience and the well being of the garden. Each open garden day includes two visiting sessions: from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There are no formal tours of the garden, however, visitors may pick up a brochure with an enclosed self-guided map at the garden entrance. Garden staff are available to answer questions and a recently published garden book is available for purchase on open days. Advance reservations ARE REQUIRED to visit the garden!
